Son of Joseph Knight and Mrs. Knight (nee Holt), of Longfield, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent; husband of Mary Luxton Knight (nee Jeffery), of The Mount, Eccleshall, Stafford. Educated at Rugby. Joined the 1st Volunteer Bn. North Staffordshire Regt. in 1883, and ultimately became Lt. Col. and Hon. Col. of the 5th Bn. North Staffordshire Regt. (T.F.).
