Chapman H A Pte 23538 2nd South Staffs Regiment Henry Arthur Chapman (Machine Room) was mobilised on the outbreak of the war with the Cambridgeshire Regt., and after a few months training at home he went to France, where he served continuously for 4 years, first with the Cambridgeshires and later with the 2nd Bn. South Staffordshire Regt. He was mentioned in despatches in 1915 and was promoted Lance-Corporal in March 1917. In September 1918 he was wounded and gassed, and in the following April he was demobilised.
