Vincent Early Cummings (Advertisement, Department, Fetter Lane) enlisted in the Honourable Artillery Company in May 1915. He served with the 2nd Bn. until June 1916, when he was drafted to the 1st Bn. in France. He took part in the Battle of Arras in April 1917, but on April 29th near Oppy, NE. of Arras, he was killed in the performance of an act of bravery. He had volunteered to bring in a comrade who was lying wounded in No Man's Land, and was shot by a sniper whilst in the act of carrying him to safety.
