Arthur John Dent (Counting-house) attested in November 1915 and joined the Royal Field Artillery for service in August 1916. In December 1916 he joined the 91st Bde., R.F.A., in France, where he served until demobilisation in February 1919, taking part in the Third Battle of Ypres, the Cambrai operations of 1917, the retreat from St Quentin, and the defence of Amiens in particular. He was promoted Lance-Bombardier in August 1918 and Bombardier in the following October.
