Gass G Cpl Royal Fusiliers George Gass (Compositor) enlisted in June 1916 in the East Surrey Regt., and was afterwards transferred to the Royal Fusiliers. He was promoted Lance-Corporal in September 1916 and Corporal in the following month, but reverted to Private on going overseas in March 1917. After 8 months service in France he went to Italy in November 1917, returning to France in March 1918. He took part in the advance into Germany after the armistice, and served in the Army of Occupation until his demobilisation in April 1919.
