Slater W E 2nd Class Air Mech Royal Air Force William Ebenezer Slater (Advertisement Department, Fetter Lane) enlisted in December 1915 in the Royal Flying Corps and was duly transferred to the Royal Air Force on its formation. He was appointed 2nd Class Air Mechanic in January 1916. In March 1918 he went to a Cadet unit, and after a course of instruction in flying he qualified for a pilot's certificate in November 1918. He was granted a commission as Honorary 2nd Lieutenant after the armistice and was demobilised in February 1919.
