ABBOTT, A. E., Corporal, R.E. (I.W.T.) He joined in June 1915, and after his training was drafted to France, where he took part in numerous engagements, including those at Ypres, Hill 60, Loos, the Somme, Arras, and Cambrai. He was demobilised in May 1919, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.

ABBOTT, G., Seaman Gunner, R.N. Already in the Navy at the outbreak of war, he served in H.M.S. "Arethusa" until she was mined early in 1916 off the East Coast. He also served in the "Duulevon" which was sunk in September 1917, and in the " Rhododendron," which was torpedoed in February 1918, and was later posted to the "Indomitable" and "Humber." Discharged, owing to ill-health, he holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.

ABBOTT, H., Private, Lincolnshire Regiment. He joined in February 1916, and in the same year was drafted to France, and was in action at Arras and St. Quentin. Later he contracted dysentery and was invalided home. On recovery he returned to France in March 1918, and served in the Retreat and Advance. He was unfortunately killed in action on August 21st, 1918, and was entitled to the General Service and Victory Medals. " A valiant Soldier, with undaunted heart he breasted life's last hill."
62, Kimberley Road, Bullhead, S.E.15.

ABBOTT, P.E., Rifleman, 7th London Regt. (Rifles). Having attested in November 1915, he joined in June of the following year, and shortly afterwards was sent to France. He was engaged at Vimy Ridge, Arras, Bullecourt, Messines, Ypres, Passchendaele, and Cambrai, and was wounded and invalided home. On his recovery he returned to France, and took part in the Retreat and Advance of 1918. He was demobilised in May 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
14, Amott Road, Peckham, S.E.15.

ABBS, W. J., Private, Hampshire Regiment. He volunteered in September 1914, and proceeding to France in the same month took part in the fighting at Neuve Chapelle, St. Eloi, and Hill 60, and was severely wounded at Ypres in May 1915. After being invalided home he had an arm amputated, and ultimately was discharged in May 1916, owing to his disability. He holds the 1914 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
14, Amersham Vale, New Cross, S.E.14.

ABRAHAM, J., Private, 12th Suffolk Regiment. Joining in June 1916, he was drafted to the Western Front later in the same year, and took part in numerous engagements. He was wounded at the second Battle of Cambrai in 1918, and returning home after the cessation of hostilities, was demobilised in June 1919, holding the General Service and Victory Medals.
82, Bevington St., Bermondsey, S.E.10.

ABRAHAMS, F. C., Private, Bedfordshire Regiment. Having volunteered in September 1914 he was sent to France in March of the same year, and was in action on the Somme, and in other important engagements. He was wounded near Arras in May 1916, and unfortunately died of his injuries shortly afterwards. He was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. "Whilst we remember the sacrifice is not in vain."

ABRAM, E. M., Private, 28th London Regiment. He volunteered in August 1914, and after his training was drafted to France in the following year, and took part in severe fighting at Hill 60, Ypres, Loos, and Vimy Ridge. He also served in many later engagements until the cessation of hostilities. He holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals, and was demobilised in 1919.

ACCA, A. J., Driver, R.F.A. Volunteering in August 1924, he was drafted to the Western Front in the following year. He took part in the fighting in the Somme and Ypres sectors, and was wounded and gassed, and was invalided home. After treatment in hospital he was discharged in 1916, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
9, Hook's Road, Peckham, S.E.15.

ACKERMAN, A. J., Sergeant, 4th London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers). He volunteered in December 1915, and in January 1917, proceeded to the Western Front, and was engaged in the fighting at Bullecourt. He was afterwards transferred to East Africa, where he was again in action, and was wounded. He was demobilised in May 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.

ACKERMAN, F. C., Corporal, R.F.A. Having volunteered in September 1914, he was drafted to France in the following year, and took part in numerous engagements, including those at Vimy Ridge, Ploegsteert Wood, the Somme, Arras, Ypres, and Cambrai. He also served in the Retreat and Advance of 1918. He was demobilised in August 1919, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
39, Dorking Road. Deptford, S.E.8.

ACKERY, A. A., Driver, R.F.A. He volunteered in April 1915, and in February of the following year was sent to France, and was in action at Loos, the Somme, Arras, Ypres, Passchendaele, and Cambrai. He was wounded in 1917, near Albert, and was invalided home, but on recovery rejoined his unit in France and served overseas until the conclusion of hostilities. He was demobilised in 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
34, Kincaid Road, Peckham, S.E.15.

ACKFORD, R. H., Rifleman, 21st London Regiment (1st Surrey Rifles). He volunteered in August 1914, and in 1916 was drafted to France, where he took part in numerous engagements. In 1917 he was transferred to Salonika, and thence to Egypt. He later proceeded to Palestine and served in the Offensive under General Allenby in 1918, and was wounded at Amman. He was demobilised in June 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
150, Choumert Road, Peckham, S.E.15.

ACKFORD, W. T., Private, 16th Middlesex Regt. He volunteered in October 1915, and in January of the following year was sent to France, where he took part in the fighting on the Somme. He was reported missing and is presumed to have been killed in action in the Advance on July 1st, 1916. He was entitled to the General Service and Victory Medals. " His life for his Country."

ACKLAND, F. J., Petty Officer, 1st Class, R.N. Having volunteered in August 1914 he served in H.M.S. "Pembroke" and was later sent to the North Sea, and engaged on minesweeping duties. He was afterwards transferred to the Mediterranean, where he was employed on similar work. He was demobilised in February 1919, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
32 Martin St., Rotherhithe, S.E.16.

ACKLAND,W., Private, 3rd Buffs (East Kent Regt.), and Air Mechanic, R.A.F. (late R.F.C.) Having volunteered in February 1915, he was drafted to France in the following May, and served in numerous engagements. Later in the same year he proceeded to Egypt, and thence to Salonika, where he was engaged on the Doiran and Struma fronts, and took part in the Advance on the Virdar. Returning to England in 1918 he was discharged in March of the following year as medically unfit for further service, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
