CAPTAIN SYDNEY PARKER BELL (B, 1899-1903) was born On September 7th, 1885—son of Lieutenant-Colonel S. W. Bell, of Southbourne-on-Sea, Hants : and before coming to Winchester was at Mr. H. Reynolds' school near his home. He was a House Prefect, played in O.T.H. XV his last two years and passing into Woolwich in 1903, obtained his commission in the 138th Battery, R.F.A. At the outbreak of war he was with the 20th Battery in India and in September 1914 arrived in France with the Meerut Division. He was wounded near Aubers in May 1915, and on his recovery was given the command of D Battery of the 106th Brigade, R.F.A., which he took to France in the following August. He was killed on September 26th of the same year while reconnoitring for a battery position near Vermelles, in the Loos area.
