Curzon A W Pte 324644 1st Cambridgeshire Regiment Arthur William Harry Curzon (Reader), who had been a Scoutmaster before the war, enlisted in August 1914 in the 1/1st Bn. Cambridgeshire Regt. (T.F.). He went to France with his unit in February 1915, and had seen more than 2 years active service before he was killed in action on July 8th, 1917. His platoon commander wrote: "Your son was always very keen on everything he did, and in spite of the fact that we have had some very trying times, I never once heard him grumble. I think he fully realised the reason he was out here, and made up his mind to do anything he was asked to willingly." Source : War Record Of Cambridge University Press 1914-1919 |
