Day F G Cpl 2nd Suffolk Regiment Frederick George Day (Apprentice machine-minder), being in the Territorial Force before the outbreak of war, was mobilised with the Cambridgeshire Regt. in August 1914. He went to France with the 1/1st Bn. in February 1915, was promoted Lance-Corporal in January 1917, and Corporal in the following April. In May 1917 he was invalided home, and was promoted Sergeant in July of the same year. In February 1918 he returned to France, on transfer to the 2nd Bn. Suffolk Regt., and was taken prisoner on March 28th, during the German advance. He was repatriated on December 26th, 1918. Source : War Record Of Cambridge University Press 1914-1919 |
