Gray W Comp Qtr Mst Sergt 1st Cambridgeshire Regiment William Gray (Reader) on the outbreak of the war was a Sergeant in the Cambridgeshire Regt. (T.F.), in which he had served for more than 21 years. He was mobilised on August 4th, 1914, but being over military age he was retained for home service. He was appointed Company Quartermaster- Sergeant in 1915. He was discharged in April 1917, but he afterwards served in the 15th Special Service Coy. from June to September 1918. He holds the Territorial Force Effciency Medal.
