Hobson L J 2nd Lt 1st Bedfordshire Regiment
Leonard Jack Hobson (Apprentice machine-minder), a Sergeant in the Cambridgeshire Regt. (T.F.) prior to the outbreak of war, was mobilised with his battalion on August 4th, 1914. He served with the 1/1st Bn. in France from February 1915 to February 1917, when he returned to England as a candidate for a commission. He was in No, 19 Offcer Cadet Bn. until June 1917, when he received a commission in the Bedfordshire Regt., and in the following August he joined the 1st Bn. of that regiment in France. He was wounded in October 1917. He served in Italy from December 1917 until April 1918, when his Division returned to France, and he went through the subsequent fighting which led up to the armistice. He was promoted Lieutenant in December 1918, and was afterwards transferred to the 11th Bn. Suffolk Regt.
