Cedric William Kingston (Town Department, Fetter Lane), who was serving in the Territorial Force prior to the war, was mobilised on August 4th, 1914, with the 17th London Bty., R.F.A.; he was afterwards transferred to the 10th Mountain Howitzer Bty. He was promoted Bombardier in April 1915, Corporal in June 1916, and Quartermaster-Sergeant in February 1918. He served in France from June to December 1916, and in Salonika from December 1916 to June 1917, when he was transferred to Egypt. He took part in Lord Allenby's final campaign in Palestine and Syria, was one of the advance party at the fall of Jerusalem, and was present at the fall of Beersheba, Gaza, and Nablus. He was demobilised in May 1919.
