Charles Thomas Austin Marriott (Monotype operator) enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery in December 1915. He joined the 17th Bde. (29th Division) in France in April 1917, but was invalided home suffering from trench fever in the following August. In March 1918 he returned to France, to the 170th Bde. (31st Division), and served there until his demobilisation in January 1919. Whilst in England he served with the 4th and 6th Reserve Bns. and at the Signalling Training Centre, Swanage.
