Murfet B J Pte 203177 11th Essex Regiment Bertie Julius Murfet (Warehouse) enlisted in September 1914 in the Cambridgeshire Regt. (T.F.) and went to France with the 1/1st Bn. in February 1915. He was wounded in September 1915 and sent to hospital in England. In the following May he returned to France on transfer to the 11th Bn. Essex Regt. and saw 2 more years service in the field, being promoted Lance-Corporal in 1917. In May 1918 he was wounded a second time and in the following October he was discharged on medical grounds.
