Rule A F Pte 40056 Bedfordshire Regiment Arthur Frederick Rule (Counting-house) enlisted in the Suffolk Regt. in May 1916; he was afterwards transferred to the Bedfordshire Regt. He went to France in August 1916 and returned home wounded in the following month. In June 1917 he returned to France and for the next 16 months he served continuously there and in Italy, being promoted Lance- Corporal in July 1917. He was wounded a second time in October 1918 and was demobilised in the following December.
