FAIR, G. H., Pte., 1st Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Joining in November 1916, in the following year he was drafted to Mesopotamia, where he was in action on the Euphrates, and at Khan Baghdadie and Baghdad. Later he contracted malaria and underwent treatment in hospital at Baghdad. He returned home and was demobilised in December 1919, holding the General Service and Victory Medals.

FAIRBAIRN, H. G., Staff-Sergt., R.A.O.C. A Reservist, he was mobilised when war broke out, and almost immediately afterwards proceeded to France where he served throughout the war. Engaged as a blacksmith he did good work in the forward areas, and served during the Retreat from Mons, and the Battles of Loos and Ypres, and in the Retreat and Advance of 1918. He was demobilised in 1919, and holds the Mons Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.

FAIRHEAD, E. F., Private, Royal Sussex Regt. He joined in June 1918 on attaining military age, and later in the same year was drafted to the Western Front, After the Armistice he proceeded with the Army of Occupation to Germany. He was later transferred to the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, with which he was still serving in 1920, holding the General Service and Victory Medals.
59, Cherry Gardens Street, Rotherhithe, S.E.16.

FAIRMAN, G., Staff-Sergt., 2nd Norfolk Regiment. He was mobilised in August 1914, and was immediately sent to France. He took part in the Battles of Mons, Le Cateau, La Bassee the Marne, the Aisne, and Ypres. In January 1916, he was transferred to Mesopotamia, and was wounded at Sanna-i-yat. He was sent to India, and thence to Egypt, but later returned to India. He was demobilised in April 1919, and holds the Mons Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
37, Bellwood Road, Nunhead, S.E.15.

FAIRMAN, J., Gunner, R.H.A. He volunteered in October 1914, and embarking for Gallipoli early in the following year, served there until the Evacuation when he was sent to Egypt. Later drafted to the Western Front in March 1917, he was engaged in the Battles of Ypres, and Passchendaele, and was wounded at Cambrai. He then took part in the Allied Advance. After also serving in Germany with the Army of Occupation, he was demobilised in April 1919, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
51 Beacon Road, Lewisham, S.E.13.

FAIRMAN, W., Shoeing Smith, Royal Bucks Hussars. He volunteered in October 1915, and after his training was engaged at various stations on important duties with his unit. He did excellent work as a shoeing smith, but was not successful in obtaining his transfer overseas. He was discharged in June 1918 in consequence of his services.

FAITHFUL, H. B., Gunner, R.F.A. (T.F.) He was mobilised in August 1914, and in March of the following year was drafted to France, where he was in action at Neuve Chapelle, Ypres, Festubert, Loos Albert, Vimy Ridge, the Somme, Arras, Passchendaele, Loos, and in numerous other engagements. He also served in the Retreat and Advance of 1918. He was demobilised in June 1919, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
26, Ivydale Road, Nunhead, S.E.15.

FANNING, C., Private, Royal Warwickshire Regt. Having joined in March 1917, he was sent to France in the following June and took part in the Battle of Ypres. He was afterwards transferred to Italy, and served on the Piave front until the end of the war. He was demobilised in January 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.

FARLEY, A. A., Private, 3rd Border Regiment. He was mobilised in August 1914, having previously served in India and Gibraltar, but owing to ill-health was discharged in the following month as medically unfit for further service.
3, Matilda Cottages, Bridge Street, Greenwich, S.E.10.

FARLEY, E., Corporal, R.A.P.C.. He joined in February 1916, and was engaged at various stations on important clerical duties with his unit. He rendered valuable services, but was not successful in obtaining his transfer overseas before the cessation of hostilities owing to his being medically unfit for active service. He was demobilised in March 1919.

FARLEY, E. J., Private, Middlesex Regiment. He joined in April 1917, and later in the same year was drafted to the Western Front. He took part in the fighting on the Somme, and at Vimy Ridge, Ypres, Passchendaele, Cambrai, and St. Quentin. He also served in the Retreat and Advance of 1918, and being twice wounded, was later invalided home. He was demobilised in January 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
4, Woods Road, Peckham S.E.15.

FARLEY, E., Private, 20th London Regiment. He joined in March 1916, and landing in France in the same year served as a Lewis gunner in the Battles of the Somme, Arras, Ypres and Cambrai. He also fought in the German Offensive and was wounded at Arras in August 1918, during the subsequent Advance. Returning to the Western Front in October 1918, he took part in the final operations of the war, serving in Germany with the Army of Occupation for nearly a year. He was demobilised in September 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
31, Strickland Road, Deptford, S.E.8.

FARMAR, W. A., Gunner, R.H.A. and R.G.A. Having joined in December 1916, he was drafted to France in March of the following year. He was engaged with the anti-aircraft Section and took part in the Retreat and Advance of 1918. He was invalided home with illness in April 1919, and was demobilised in the following July. He holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
40, Merritt Road, Brockley, S.E.4.

FARMER, E. A., Engine-Room Artificer, R.N. He was serving at the outbreak of war in H.M.S. "Monmouth," which vessel was employed on patrol duties in the North Sea and other waters. His ship was sunk in the Battle of Coronel against superior enemy forces and he was, with others of the crew drowned on November 1st, 1914. He was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.

FARMER, F., Sapper, R.E. He joined in May 1916, and after his training was engaged in the workshops, where he was injured during an explosion. On his recovery he was drafted to France, where he was employed on railway work and took part in numerous engagements. He was demobilised in September 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
37, Chevening Road, Greenwich, S.E.10.

FARMER, F. G., Sergt., R.F.A. He was mobilised in August 1914, and was immediately sent to France, where he took part in the Retreat from Mons, and the Battles of the Marne, and the Aisne. In November 1915, he was transferred to Salonika, and was engaged on the Doirau, Vardar and Struma fronts. Having contracted malaria and dysentery he was invalided home in 1918, and was demobilised in April 1919, holding the Mons Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
8, Rhyme Road, Lewisham, S.E.15.

FARMER, H. C. 1st Air Mechanic, R.A.F. He joined in October 1917, and in the following year was drafted to the Western Front, where he was present at numerous important operations. After the Armistice he proceeded to Germany with the Army of Occupation, with which he served until February 1920, when he returned home. He was still serving at the end of that year, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.

FARMER, W. E., Driver, R.F.A. He volunteered in September 1914, and in the following year was drafted to France, where he was in action on the Somme, and at Arras, Ypres, and in numerous other engagements. He contracted an illness and was invalided home. After a period in hospital be was discharged in October 1918, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
10, Hichisson Road, Peckham, S.E.15.

FARMER, W. F. Private, 2nd Canadian M.G.C. He joined in October 1916, having previously served in the Mercantile Marine. He was drafted to France, where he took part in the fighting at Arras, Passchendaele, Bourlon Wood, Cambrai, and in numerous other engagements. After the Armistice he proceeded with the Army of Occupation into Germany. He was demobilised in May 1919, and holds the General Service, Marine Mercantile War, and Victory Medals.
33, Speedwell Street, Deptford, S.E.8.

FARMER, W. H. J. (M.M.), Sergt., R.F.A. Having volunteered in February 1915, he was sent to France later in the same year, and took part in the Battles of Ypres, Loos, the Somme, Arras, Passchendaele, Lens and Cambrai, where he was wounded twice. He was awarded the Military Medal for conspicuous gallantry in capturing five enemy machine guns. He also holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. and was demobilised in January 1919.
41, Buchan Road, Peckham, S.E.15.

FARRAN, T. H., Corporal, R.E. He joined in February 1916, and in the following month was drafted to France. He did excellent work in the repair of machinery on the Somme, and at Ypres, and other places and was wounded near Ypres in May 1917. He was demobilised in September 1920, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals.
