Glovers and Co., London, from August 1914, until October 1917 on the manufacture of bomb carriers and food cases. Later he was employed by Mr. Putman, of Aylesbury, where he was engaged on the construction of aeroplane hangars. He rendered valuable services until after the Armistice. 8, Costa Street, Peckham, S.E 15. BAYMAN, W. H., Rifleman, 21st London Regiment. He volunteered in June 1915, and five months later was drafted to the Western Front, where he saw severe fighting in various sectors. He took part in many important engagements in this theatre of war, including the Battles of Vermelles, Vimy Ridge, the Somme, Arras, Bullecourt, Messines, Ypres, Cambral Amiens, and Havrincourt, and served also through the Retreat and Advance of 1918. He was demobilised on his return home is January 1919, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. 4, Balchier Road, East Dulwich, S.E.22. BAYNES, G. E., Driver, R.A.S.C. He volunteered in November 1914, and in the following June embarked for France. There he was engaged on important transport duties at Neuve Chapelle, the Somme, Arras, Passchendaele, and Cambrai, and during the Retreat of 1918, contracted an illness, in consequence of which he was invalided home in May of that year. He was under hospital treatment until September, and on recovery was engaged on home duties until demobilised in February 1919. He holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. 11, Frogley Road, East Dulwich, S.E.22. BEADEL, F., Corporal, R.F.A. Volunteering in March 1915, he was sent overseas in the following November, and saw much service in France, notably at Albert, the Somme, Arras, Beaucourt, Beaumont-Hamel, Passchendaele, and Cambrai. He also fought in many engagements in the Retreat and Advance of 1918 until the conclusion of hostilities. He holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals, and was demobilised in January 1919. 38, Arabia Road, Brockley, S.E.4. BEADELL, A. E., A.B., Royal Navy. He was mobilised in August 1914, and posted to H.M.S. "Sapphire" and sent to the North Sea, where he was engaged on patrol duty till January 1915. He was then transferred to the Dardanelles, where he took part in the bombardment of the enemy positions. After the Armistice he proceeded to Constantinople in H.M.S. "Superb," in which he served until April 1919, when he was demobilised, holding the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. 2 Haddo Street, Greenwich, S.E.10. BEAGLE, S. M., Private, l0th London Regiment. He joined in July 1916, and shortly afterwards proceeded overseas. During his service in this theatre of war he took part in many important engagements, including those at Beaumont-Hamel, Bullecourt, Ypres and Cambrai. He did good work as a sniper, and was wounded in action near Albert. As a result, he was sent to England, and after a period of treatment was invalided out of the Army in March 1918. He holds the General Service and Victory Medals. 1 Firbank Road, Peckham, S.E.15 BEAGLES, E. G., Bombardier, R.G.A. Joining in May 1916, he landed four months later in France and whilst in this theatre of war was in action in many notable engagements. He took part in the fighting at Messines Ridge and Armentieres, but later unfortunately contracted pneumonia and was invalided home. After being in hospital for some time he was demobilised in August 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals. 105, Tuskar Street, Greenwich, S.E.10. BEAGLEY, G. H., Pte., Queen's (R.West Surrey Regt.) He volunteered in August 1914, but on completion of his training was taken seriously ill with diabetes and as a result was invalided from the Army as medically unfit for further service in July 1915. Unfortunately he died from this disease at Lewisham Military Hospital in February 1920. "His memory is cherished with pride." 44, Nigel Road, Peckham, S.E.15. BEALE, A., Private, R.A.S.C. (M.T.) He volunteered in November 1914, and in January of the following year was drafted to France, where he was engaged on important transport duties in various sectors. He served at Ypres, the Somme, Amiens, Bapaume and in other operations in the Retreat and Advance of 1918, and did valuable work throughout. He holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals, and was demobilised in April 1919. 18, Creed Place, Greenwich, S.E.10. BEAMISH, H. G., Gunner, R.F.A. Volunteering in June 1915, he was later drafted to the Western Front. During his period of service in this seat of war he took part in many important engagements in various sectors. He made the supreme sacrifice in November 1916, being killed in action during the Somme Offensive, and was entitled to the General Service and Victory Medals. "He died the noblest death a man may die, Fighting for God and right and liberty." 5, Seth Street, Rotherhithe, S.E.16. BEANEY, J., Private, l0th London Regiment. He volunteered in December 1915, and after his training was sent to Ireland and was engaged at various stations on important duties. He was unable to obtain a transfer overseas while hostilities still continued, but did very valuable work until May 1919, when he was demobilised. 10, Orlop Street, Greenwich, S.E.10. BEARCHELL, G. H., Pte., R.A.S.C. and Spr., R.E. He joined in March 1916, and in the same year proceeded overseas. During his service on the Western Front he was engaged in the transport section and served throughout many important engagements until 1917, when he was discharged as medically unfit for further service. Later he rejoined in the R.E. and was stationed at Ramsgate, where he did good work until after the Armistice. He was demobilised in February 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals. 4, Blackhorse Road, Deptford, S.E.8. BEARSBY, E. J., Driver, R.A.S.C. (H.T.) Volunteering in August 1914, he was drafted in the following year to the Western Front, and was present at the fighting on the Somme and at Arras and Ypres. He did much valuable work in conveying munitions and supplies to the forward areas. On his return home in 1919 he was demobilised, holding the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. 13, Walnut Tree Road, Greenwich, S.E.10. BEARSLY, S. P., Cpl., Q.O. (R. West Kent Regt.) He joined in August 1918, on attaining military age, and after his training was engaged on important duties at various stations. He was not able to obtain a transfer overseas prior to the end of war, but afterwards proceeded with the Army of Occupation to Germany, where he was still serving in 1920. 13, Walnut Tree Rd., Greenwich, S.E.10. BEASLEY, F., Gunner, R.F.A. He volunteered in January 1915, having previously' served twelve years with the Colours, and later in the same year proceeded to France. After serving in many engagements on various sectors he unfortunately contracted pneumonia and died in December 1917. He was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals "His life for his Country, his soul to God." 97, Hawkstone Road, Rotherhithe, S.E.16. BEAUMONT, G. A., Gunner, R.F.A. Volunteering in August 1914, he proceeded to France in the following June, and was in action at Hill 60, Ypres, Festubert, La Bassee, Verdun, Messines and Passchendaele. He was wounded and taken prisoner on the Somme during the German Offensive in April 1918, and was held in captivity until repatriated after the close of hostilities. He was eventually demobilised in December of that year, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals. 22, Shawbury Road, East Dulwich, S.E.22. BEAUMONT, R. E. (Jun.), L/Corporal, R.A.M.C. He joined in December 1915, at the age of sixteen, and served for two years in England. In 1918 he was drafted to North Russia, where he was engaged for about seven months on hospital duties. Returning home he was later sent to Egypt, and in 1920 was stationed at Haifa. He rendered valuable services throughout, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals, and a Russian decoration. 59, Engleheart Road, Catford, S.E.6. BEAUMONT, R. E., Gunner, R.F.A. Volunteering in 1915 he proceeded in August of that year to the Western Front and took part in the fighting in many sectors. He was in action at Ypres, Loos, the Somme, Arras and Cambrai and in the Retreat and Advance of 1918. Returning home in February 1919, he holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals 59, Engleheart Road, Catford, S.E.6. BEAVER, G. H., Sapper, R.E. . Volunteering in December 1915, he was engaged on important home duties until 1917, when he crossed to Prance. He was employed on special work in connection with operations at Messines, Vimy Ridge, Corbie and St. Quentin, and during his service was severely wounded at Mennin Road. He was demobilised in February 1919, and holds the General Service and Victory Medals. 49, Brand Street, Greenwich, S.E.10. BEAVINGTON, C. H., Rifleman, 6th London Regt. and 51st Rifle Brigade. He joined in April 1918, and after undergoing a period of training was retained on important duties at various stations. He was not successful in obtaining his transfer overseas before the cessation of hostilities, but in January 1919 was drafted to Germany, where he served with the Army of Occupation at Cologne until his return home for demobilisation in February 1920. 45, Garsdale Road, Peckham, S.E.15.
