A postcard of Boulogne Sur Mer, published by Stevenard of Boulogne, sent from Pte J Flinton 2441 5th Yorkshire Regiment, who was at Marlborough Details Camp, Boulogne to Lily Burton of 67 Norwood Street, Scarborough. Army Postmark dated 6th Dec 1915 and Passed By Censor Stamp No 1351.

Dear Lil, Seen Harry Mead and been out with him. Still OK. How’s yourself. I am John.

John Flinton from Scarborough, served as a private in The Yorkshire Regiment in the First World War. He went to France with the British Expeditionary Force on the 30th Sep 1915. He was commissioned into The Lancashire Fusiliers on the 26th Jun 1917. He survived the war.

Lillian Burton was born in Scarborough in 1892. She gave her occupation as artist on the 1911 census. She married Benjamin Tansell in 1918 and died in Scarborough in 1978.
