He became a member of the Stock Exchange in 1911.<\/p>\n<p>He had been a member of the Artists Rifles before the war, and rejoined at the outbreak of war.<\/p>\n<p>Early in 1915 he was given a commission in the 2nd Gordon Highlanders and was wounded in May of that year.<\/p>\n<p>After recovering from his wounds he returned to the Front and was killed on 1 July 1916-the fiercest day in the history of the British army-in the attack on Mametz.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source : The Stock Exchange War Memorial 1914-1918<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SECOND LIEUTENANT GEOFFREY Gordon Highlanders, was born in 1888.
