Son of Florence Batchelor.<\/p>\n<p>DCM Citation<\/p>\n<p>200200 Cpl. (A.\/Sjt.) W. BATCHELOR 1\/4th Bn. Wilts R. T.F. (Devizes) (EGYPT)<\/p>\n<p>During the attack on Et. Tiren on the 10th September 1918, he displayed great skill in handling his platoon, and when all the officers of the company were wounded he took command of half of the company, and continued to lead the men forward. When the commanding officer was wounded, he went to his assistance, and, although subject to machine-gun and rifle fire, he managed to get him under cover. (25.2.20)<\/p>\n<p>Medal of \u201cLa Solidaridad\u201d, 3rd Class (with Rosette). Conferred by the Government of the Republic of Panama. Gazette Date 13 Feb 1920.<\/p>\n<p>Attained the rank of Acting Sergeant<\/p>\n<p>Discharged from the army 19th Apr 1919 with a dislocated cartilage<\/p>\n<p>Address 12 Deramore Row, Commercial Road, Devizes.<\/p>\n<p>Married Mabel Legg Jul 1919<\/p>\n<p>Died Jan 1973.
