The Royal Warwickshire Regt.. s. of Edward Thomas Brown, of Lynedale, Cliffe Grange, Higher Broughton, Manchester, by his wife, Sarah Dewhurst, dau. of Mary (and Peter) Ridyard; b. Rochdale, co. Lancaster, 3 Nov. 1896; educ. Spotland School there was employed at the Bradford Dyers&#8217; Association; enlisted in the Royal Warwickshire Regt. 4 Jan. 1916; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from the following Dec., taking part in the fighting at Vimy Ridge in April, 1917, and at Oppy Wood in the following month, when he was blown up, being rendered unconscious, and was taken prisoner, and employed for eighteen months behind the enemy&#8217;s lines, and died, a prisoner of war, in hospital, at Ohligs, Germany, 17 Oct. 1918, of Spanish influenza.
