Patriotic World War One postcard take from a painting by the Belgium artist Albert Beerts. Published by Gaston Piprot, Boulogne-sur-Seine. Sent to Miss F Avant in 1915 from Stan.

2.6/15 Long live England From your own true loving Stan. xxxxxxxxxx I bought this when I was on rest a few days ago. (We are fairly beating the Germans now)

Hughes John Stanley (Stan) Pte 406064 5th King’s Liverpool Regiment
Born 1897 in Liverpool. Parents John And Harriet Hughes. Lived at 4 Heyes St, Everton, Liverpool.
Enlisted 7th Sep 1914 in 5th Liverpool Regiment To France 21st Feb  1915.
Attained rank of Lance Corporal and transferred to Military Foot Police.
Married Florence Mabel Avant a housemaid at 80 Alexandra Road, Hamsptead, London on the 4th June 1917 while on leave.
Discharged from the army November 1918 age 22 years 3 months as no longer fit for military service.
Died in 1963 aged 66.
